Weddings at Hillside Christian Church are a ministry of Congregational Care and are offered for the purpose of helping couples begin a healthy, growing relationship with each other as they grow together in their relationship with
Jesus Christ.

At Hillside, we are committed not only to your wedding day, but to the new life that you and your spouse will begin together. That's why we require three counseling sessions with the officiating pastor and attendance of a three-week engagement class or one of our weekend engagement retreats. If you have completed pre-marital counseling sessions other than the ones we offer, they must be approved by one of our pastors.

Weddings may be set up three hours prior to the wedding. The Chapel, Fellowship Hall, Bride's Room and Groom's Room need to be cleaned and vacated by 9:30 pm.

Photography

Photography is allowed during the ceremony, but we ask that you communicate with your photographer that he or she be courteous and unobtrusive during the ceremony. We also ask that the use of flash be limited, and that the photographer would refrain from taking pictures during the vows and during the exchange of rings, as this is a very important part of the wedding.

Restrictions

No smoking is allowed anywhere on the HCC premises. No rice is allowed. Birdseed is allowed, but not inside the building. Please distribute the bags outside the building. Please keep the wedding party in the area of the Bride’s Room, Groom’s Room, Chapel, Courtyard or Fellowship Hall.

Courtyard

The courtyard may be used for weddings, pictures or reception with the understanding that all setup and clean up is done by the wedding party. No sound system is available for the courtyard. The wedding party may use their own sound equipment in the courtyard.

Bride’s Room

Plan for someone to be responsible for collecting items left in the Bride’s and Groom’s Rooms. You are responsible for all lost or stolen items.

Reception

Round or rectangular tables and white linen tablecloths are available for your use. Absolutely no alcoholic beverages are allowed on the premises. No red punch may be served due to staining. A band or a dance is allowed at the reception. There is an additional sound setup fee for bands which varies with the setup.

DJs are allowed at receptions. There is no extra charge if they bring and operate their own equipment. No one but HCC staff may operate HCC sound equipment.

Rental Deliveries

Rented items may be delivered on Saturday morning after 9:00 a.m. It is the responsibility of the wedding party to coordinate the delivery and pickup times. Rental companies may deliver to the 200 Building East doors. HCC staff is not available to coordinate delivery or pickup. Any items left in the building after the Monday following the wedding will be thrown away.

Florist Instructions

Pick up wedding equipment the day of the wedding. Clear plastic MUST be placed under all candles to protect carpet. If candles are placed in the aisles, plastic must cover the chairs under the candles.

Music

An HCC staff musician will be happy to play for your wedding, but our fee does not include a vocalist or pianist. A sound technician will be present at the rehearsal, ceremony, and beginning of the reception. No one but HCC staff may operate sound equipment.

Childcare

We do not provide childcare during weddings. The wedding party may appoint a caregiver to keep children in the bride’s room during the wedding.
