SUPPORT GROUPS

Hillside Christian Church wants to be a safe place of comfort and support for those who are struggling with challenging life situations. We believe in allowing the comfort of God to flow through us in order to comfort and support others (2 Corinthians 1:3-5). Please call 457.4986 to speak to a member of our Congregational Care staff who can give more information about the times, dates, and locations of support groups. You can get information on more Small Groups here.

Caregivers Support Group
will meet the last Tuesday of each month. This group is still in formation.

GriefShare offers support, encouragement, and information to anyone suffering the loss of a family member or friend to death. This thirteen-session group meets on Monday evenings. The last session of each series of meetings includes a very meaningful memorial candle lighting ceremony. To access the current GriefShare schedule, please click here.

DivorceCare is open to men and women who are facing the prospect of divorce, are in the process of divorce, or have suffered the loss of a marriage relationship through divorce. This group meets on Tuesday evenings and also follows a thirteen-session curriculum. To access the current DivorceCare schedule, please click here.

Survivors of Suicide helps people who have lost someone to suicide. The group lasts 8 weeks and is facilitated by suicide survivors. To participate in future groups, contact Kris Collins at 457.4993.

Widow’s Might, a grieving widows’ support group, begins September 12 and meets Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30 pm in Room 404. Childcare available by calling 457-4918.

Additional support groups are continually being developed at Hillside. Very soon you will hear or read about groups such as: Women Survivors of Sexual Abuse and Relationships: Why You Do the Things You Do. In the future, we plan to offer support groups for parents of special needs children, people who want support in overcoming various addictions, parents who struggle with difficult or rebellious teenage or young adult children, and many others.

If Hillside Christian Church does not currently offer the group or the individual support you need, we have an extensive network list of Amarillo-area support group services. We will do our very best to connect you with the resources you need during your challenging time.

All of our support groups are led by teams of caring people who are trained and experienced in leading groups. A special twelve-session series, Support Group Leaders Training and Orientation, is offered for anyone interested in facilitating a support group at Hillside Christian Church. Please contact Support Groups Pastor, Danny Mize at 457.4951 or danny.mize@hillsidewired.com to learn about the requirements for the training and the schedule for the next available series.
